Brian T. Berger was born May 1 1984. His father and mother started a jewelry buying location just outside of Philadelphia, PA a place he spent most of his childhood after school. He learned first in coins and quickly to jewelry. After high school he would work until close also assisting in the shop on Saturdays. In college he decided to continue the tradition of buying and selling jewelry and coins going to markets and different stores throughout New England. After college he attended GIA in New York with a special award for excellence in Gemology. His first large sale was a 9.72 carat round brilliant cut which he advertised nightly after work to buy large diamonds. He sold the stone and continued on the path of large luxury items. His reputation for quality in craftsmanship and cater to building with excellence pushed the reputation forward. In 2017 he left his family's business to pursue his own career and opened the Velvet Box Society. In doing so he went on to purchase some of the most rare gemstones the world has seen and elected to display them in various museums around the world for others to see and inspire children interested in gemstones. He frequently give museum lectures on such topics. In 2018 he acquired the contents for a jewelry store in the mainline Pennsylvania and continued to operate as a private jeweler and wholesaler in the Philadelphia area until 2020 when acquired another jeweler in the Philadelphia area followed by third in 2021. Today he continues to produce the finest and most exquisite pieces of jewelry manufactured in Pennsylvania all on a custom commission basis while he continues to operate with his team the antique jewelry, loose diamond, and timepiece side of the business.
