At The Velvet Box Society the origin of our diamonds and gemstones is paramount. Our corporate responsibility states that we only sell conflict free diamonds and gemstones. We stay true to that by avoiding any diamonds that could be considered "Blood Diamonds." We do not conduct business in any way, shape, or form with suppliers that do not adhere to The Kimberley Process Certification. Most of our diamonds are recycled diamonds however should we manufacture new diamonds every single rough stone follows strict guidelines from the Kimberly process to ensure safety and conflict free diamonds.
In the year 2003 The Kimberley Process was ratified by The United Nations, recognized governments and several other international organizations. The Kimberley Process Certification (KPC) establishes four (4) criteria to ensure rebel organizations do not profit from the selling of illegal diamonds while protecting the legitimate diamond trade. - an international certificate system, on import and export of diamonds (rough diamonds of which we primarily do not deal
- legislation in all countries to accept only officially sealed packages of diamonds
- calls for countries to impose criminal charges for anyone trafficking in conflict diamonds, and finally
- it calls for countries to institute a ban on any individual found trading conflict diamonds.
