SOLD: Vintage Rolex Oyster Speedking circa 1947 with original and rare rose gold dial
In the 1930's, Rolex and Sir Malcolm Campbell (a record breaking racecar driver), became united for speed. On September 4th 1935, wearing a Rolex watch, this “king of speed” set a land speed record over 300 miles per hour. Campbell broke the world speed record nine times. Many believed this is the reason the Rolex 'Speedking' was born. Featured here is a vintage Rolex Oyster Speedking circa 1947 with rare dial with pink gold Arabic applied numbers applied by hand! Ref 4220. Stainless steel and unpolished! Recently serviced! On new non-original leather strap with tang buckle. Smooth bezel with bubble top acrylic crystal. Case diameter 28mm. Manual wind movement.
