The Amazement: Absolutely Outstanding Gemological Institute of America Graded 19.01 carat Square Emerald Cut Fancy Vivid Orangy-Yellow Vs2 Diamond ring. Crafted in platinum the center step cut diamond is four prong set in a classic yet elegant head. The center is set low and is outstanding in nature. Flanking the center diamond are straight baguettes and princess cut diamonds that compliment the center in a playful way. The contrast to the vivid colored central stone is quite mesmerizing. The ring is crafted in platinum and marked "Winston" for Harry Winston. The diamond and ring were likely created during the 1960s when Harry Winston first began working with Frederick Pough. Pouge was the curator of the Museum of Natural History where Harry Winston had exhibits of the famous Hope diamond and the Jonker diamond. Pough was a Harvard PHD. and best selling author in a field guide on gemstones. Pough was working on the source of colored diamonds and in the early 1950s began doing experiments at the prestigious Brookhaven National Laboratory where we was able to replicate the natural processes of diamond coloration from nature. This diamond and ring are considered to be a very early example of the Pough and Winston creations together making it a true piece of provenance. The ring was rediscovered by our curators and is now back to the market as an early Harry Winston Pough creation with update Gemological Institute of America grading report. The ring is comfortable to wear and outstanding in nature. Truly an exceptional piece and we are proud to offer it for sale.
