Where To Sell Sterling Silver and Silver Plate?
NOTE: We are not currently taking in-person appointments for silver plated items. The best method of sending in your silver plate is via shipping. We do not recommend shipping small quantities of silver plate because of their limited value. If you have other items of higher value, please contact us and we can advise whether you should ship to us or not.
We are one of the best, if not the best, silver buyers in Pennsylvania offering you the best prices on your silver plated scrap. Find out for yourself why we’ve been the top choice for paying cash for silver plated items for over 30 years.
Silver plating began in the late 1800’s. Production of silver-plated tableware comes in many forms from silver-plated knives, forks, and spoons to sliver plated serving pieces, napkin rings, candlesticks & platters. We buy it all!

How Can I Tell If My Item Is Silver Plated?
A good rule of thumb is if the item does not say “sterling” or “925” its more than likely silver plated with the exception of older pieces (1800’s, early 1900’s). Our trained professionals will examine the pieces and organize them by purity, categorizing each carefully to ensure you get the maximum value.
One way to tell if an item is silver-plated or not is by checking to see if it’s magnetic. If a magnet sticks to it, then it is usually silver-plated & maybe only silver toned. There are exceptions to this rule though, as an example silver and silver-plated knives will have a steel piece inside holding the handle and blade together but still may have a silver plated handle.
Also, there are usually markings on the piece somewhere that will let you know if it is silver-plated. If it has words like Silver-Plated, Electroplate or Triple Plate, these are all indicators that the item is silver-plated. Other makers marks and letters (or acronyms) you might see include; EPNS (electroplated nickel silver), EP (electroplated); I.S. (International Silver), William Rogers, 1847 ROGERS BROS and many others are also likely silver plated pieces.
How Much Are Silver Plated Items Worth?
The short answer to this question is, not much. The actual silver amount on plated-silver things is so minute, that when processed, it takes over 100 lbs. of pounds of silver plated pieces to pull out just one ounce of pure silver. However, during that refining process, the other metals & alloys that the items are made of are also extracted. Depending on the silver plated pieces you have, you can expect around twenty five cents to a dollar per pound depending on the piece. Some pieces though can be much more. The best bet is to send us your items and we will take a look as if you have sterling silver mixed in that you are unaware you could have literally thousands of dollars there.
We Pay Cash For Vintage Silver Plated Pieces
Some old silver plated items like: jewelry boxes, tongs, cigarette cases can be more ornate and may be worth more than scrap value. We will take the time to go through your collection and sort out such pieces and pay you a much better premium if the retail market permits. Contact us and lets see what we can do.
