Roger Dubuis
Roger Dubuis began his career in watches at Longines in the late 1950s and found a passion for watches. Before founding his own brand it is said he worked to develop complications for Patek Philippe in Geneva. By 1980 he had decided to found his own company after his namesake. He also took commissions to design new complications for major brands for several years until Carlos Dias, a designer for Franck Muller, joined Dubuis to help launch his namesake brand. In 1995 Roger Dubuis manufacture was officially founded in Geneva and four years later they introduced their first fully designed and developed in house timepiece. The business grew with sales in 1999 and by 2001 a manufacturing facility was built in Meyrin, Switzerland. The brand continued to grow and in 2oo8 Richemont Group purchased a 60% stake in the company. By 2016 Richemont purchased that additional 40% of the company encompassing it under their umbrella and Roger Dubuis passed away not long after in 2017.
