Roberto Coin
Roberto Coin was founded in 1977 in Vicenza, Italy. Born in Venice, Italy, on July 25, 1944, Roberto Coin lost his father at a young age and was sent to boarding school in Switzerland to learn about the hotel trade. Upon his graduation he moved to England and spent a year working as an assistant manager before he bought a café and then a restaurant and took out a loan to buy a hotel. After a few years he sold the businesses and left to head back to italy to start in jewelry manufacturing. The company began as a manufacturing jewelry creating other Italian lines until, in 1996 they launched their own line under the Coin name by signing his jewelry with the setting of a small ruby hidden on the inside of each piece. The company grew and expanded and today Coin pieces are sold in Europe, Asia, North American and South America at more than 800 points of sale in 53 countries.
