Raymond Weil
In 1976 Raymond Weil founded his namesake in Geneva, Switzerland. This was the height of the swiss watchmaking crisis or quartz crisis. Weil explored Europe and Switzerland to put together an international network to build his brand. Weil began by selling his designs from a foldable table. The original timepieces were both a mix of Swiss made made mechanical watches and quartz powered watches both designed for international buyers of the low end luxury market. The watches sold well and the company grew rapidly. Weil retired in 2002 and eventually his grandson took over in 2014.
