Paula Crevoshay
Paula Crevoshay was born in Louisiana where her father was a senior research scientist though her family was originally from the Atlanta area. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University and graduated with honors and a full fellowship before entering graduate school at the University of Wisconsin. There she met and married her late husband George Crevoshay, who was completing his PhD in Buddhist studies and linguistics. The two fell in love, and George, who was fluent in several East Asian languages, was awarded a Fulbright fellowship for study abroad. They married when Paula was just 22 years old and together they embarked on a four-year tour of Asian culture. During the tour she continued her love of the arts first in painting. She slowly made the transition into jewelry design and launched her first collection in 1981. The collection did well and caught the attention of many clients. Over the years her business grew and her designs progressed with the use of primarily colored gems when the market was mainly working with diamonds at the time.
