Laykin et Cie
Laykin et Cie was founded in 1932 by Solomon W. Laykin, Irving Laykin and Allen Walker. They opened on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood California. Its roots come from the 1920’s when Irving Laykin founded The Laykin Diamond Company located at 5th Street and Spring Street inside the Alexandria Hotel. By the late 1930's Laykin et Cie had expanded with multiple locations at the La Quinta Hotel in La Quinta as well as the Arrowhead Springs Hotel, the Santa Barbara Biltmore, and the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, California. The locations attracted Hollywood stars who became frequents of Laykin et Cie. In 1938 Laykin moved from Sunset to Wilshire inside a customers building which is where they stayed for 50 years. During the next 50 years many designers contributed their their success including, but not limited to, George Headley, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali and David Webb to Zolotas, Andrew Grima, and David Yurman.
