Jean Mahie
Jean Mahie is a partnership between Jacline Mazard and her father-in-law Jean-Marie Mazard. The partnership began in 1969 working in a studio in Mouans-Sartoux in the South of France. Neither partner was formally trained and both created bohemian fashions of the late 60s and early 1970s. Van Cleef & Arpels and Cartier showed interest in their work with both firms retailing their pieces. In November 1970, theyhad creations in Place Vendome and rue de la Paix in Paris in both stores. Neiman Marcus followed suit and formed an agreement that the store would become the sole retailer of Jean Mahie in the United States. Jacline continues the Jean Mahie brand today with the aid of her son and daughter; she has a workshop in New York.
