In 1970 Carlo Ciarli decided to work with Giovanni Illario to create the jewelry brand Gio Caroli. Carlo began his career in advertising before befriending jeweler Giovanni Illario. The team did well together as Carlo handled the marketing and Giovanni worked on the jewelry bringing clients work to life. The Valenza based company specialized in mid century modern pieces often times with enamel and focused on shape and design. The Illario craftsmanship helped build the name and the brand did well making its stake in midcentury modern jewelry.
