Gerda Lynggaard
Gerda Lynggaard was a Danish jewelry designer known for her work with her company, Monies. She was born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1937 and studied at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts. In 1973, she co-founded Monies with her husband, Nikolai Monies, and they began creating jewelry using unconventional materials such as wood, amber, horn, and bone.
Lynggaard's designs were often inspired by nature and organic forms, and she believed that jewelry should enhance a woman's natural beauty rather than overpower it. Her work has been featured in exhibitions around the world, including at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
Gerda Lynggaard passed away in March 2019, but her company, Monies, continues to create unique and innovative jewelry designs using natural materials.
