Fernand Demaret
Fernand Demaret was born in Namur, Belgium in 1924. As a child he learned from his grandfather who was a watch maker as well as his father who was a jeweler. He began early by studying with his grandfather and focusing his time on watchmaking before meeting Madame Liliane Nathalie Mosselmans in 1954. At the time she asked a friend to create contemporary jewelry which inspired Franand to create with the intent to impress Liliane, which it did, as later they married. He opened his first shop in 1963 on rue du Bailli 10, Brussels and business did well. By the early 1970's he moved the premises to Avenue Louise 31 in Brussels. In his shops he, his wife and many designers created jewels in Demaret' style. The designs sold well and business grew until 1992 when Demaret decided to close the shop. With the shop closed colleagues continued to sell his works out of the showroom at rue Bosquet 31 a 1160 Brussels. Business continued this way until Fernand passed away in 2013.
