Ecole De Nancy
Ecole De Nancy or the Nancy School is a group of Art Nouveau artists who worked together in Nancy france between 1890 and 1914 working in all mediums from furniture to glass, to jewelry. These artists includes many world famous artists such as Galle, Gruber, Daum and others. After the French were defeated in the Franco-Prussian War in 1870 much of the area ceded to the German empire at the time however Nancy remained as France. This meant many talented artists of France left the other areas to settle in Nancy. The Nancy School was formally organized in 1901 by a group of young craftsmen in the city who had already been working together since around 1894 and was led by Galle. The school fostered many of the French greats who worked together and developed ideas and techniques together in glass, enamel, and design.
