Christofol or Christofle
Christofol was founded in 1830 in Paris, France by Charles Christofle. Charles began life in 1805 and started his career as a jeweler around 1821. By 1830 he founded his namesake and a few years later purchased the patents for plating gold. The beginnings of high craftsmanship meant their manufacturing also did manufacturing work for other major houses in Paris such as Cartier and the Mystery clocks. The business grew and they became masters in silver as well. Today the company still exists and is rumored to be the oldest continuing manufacturer of jewelry in Paris and continues manufacturing jewelry just a short walk from the Place Vendome.
