Charles Krypell
Charles Krypell attended the Pratt Institute in New York and decided he preferred working in three-dimensional media like clay, wood, brass and stone than paper and paint. At the time he began apprenticing under master carver-turned-sculptor Toshio Odate. After the apprenticeship he went to work alongside Sandra Pailet who designed porcelain. While there he began turning his creativity toward jewelry.
In 1976 he left Sandra Pailet and formed Charles Krypell Inc. This is when he began to create jewelry. Starting in sterling silver his designs began to sell and created his first collection: "the Krypell Collection" which coincidentally was made of platinum and gold matched with rubies, emeralds, sapphires, and diamonds. The collection began to sell and Krypells buisiness built.
