Charade
Charade is a vintage costume jewelry company that was founded by Canadian fashion entrepreneur, Marcel Boucher in the early 1940s. Boucher was a master jeweler who had previously worked for Cartier and Mazer Bros. before starting his own company.
Charade was known for creating high-quality, intricately designed pieces that were sold at affordable prices. Many of the pieces featured in their collections were inspired by nature, with floral and animal motifs being particularly popular.
In 1964, the company was sold to D’Orlan Industries, another Canadian jewelry company. D’Orlan continued to produce Charade pieces until the late 1970s, when the company was sold to a Hong Kong-based firm. Today, vintage Charade pieces are highly sought after by collectors and are considered to be valuable examples of mid-century costume jewelry.
