Ascione
Giovanni Ascione(1834-1908) started his namesake in 1855 in Torre del Greco, Italy. He began working in precious metals and primarily raw coral as he could source it from the traders from the Mediterranean Sea. The company grew and Ascione made a name for himself. The name and reputation grew as he won the gold medal in Oporto, in 1865, and the bronze medal, in Vienna, in 1873 and two international exhibitions. Since 1875 Giovanni Ascione won the rights to the coat of arms of the King of Italy Vittorio Emanuele II of Savoy. By 1876 he decided to show his works at the Philadelphia International Exposition then opened a location in New York under the guidance of his oldest son Domenico. In 1905 Vittorio Emanuele III, the new King of Italy, granted Giovanni Ascione & Son the second Royal patent further cementing the name in jewelry history. Giovanni passed and Guiseppe Ascione took control of the company through the 1930s. John (Giancarlo) Ascione then took over the company along with Giuseppe, Mauro, Caterina, Marco, the sons of Giovanni Ascione, together and worked to transition the company which they did until today (2021).
