Zales
Morris Zale, William Zale and Ben Lipshy opened the first Zales jewelers on March 29, 1924 in Wichita Falls, Texas. By the mid 1920's they added a credit policy for their customers, something other stores were not offering. The rapid growth in sales allowed them to expand to 12 stores by the 1940's and complete their first take over in 1944 of Corrigan's jewelers in Houston. The added computers and moved their headquarters in the late 1940's and 1950's. The company expanded through the 1960s, 70s and 1980s reaching over one billion in sales. By the late 1980s they acquired Gordon's Jewelers. By the 1990s they filed for chapter 11 before restructuring their debt and coming with great sales and launching a Zales outlet store. Many changes occurred from the late 1990s through the 2000's and Zale has made their place in jewelry history
